Predictions for 2013

Swamp Hibiscus
How do you want the next year to play out? Do you already have visions of disasters in your mind?
There is a great deal of support from the media for that disaster movie in your  head nd I say that it is time to create what you wish for your future. I have read a number of research articles that are confirming that our first reaction to new things is the way that things will play out. For instance, if your child falls and skins his knee, it is really your first reaction that will determine how slowly or quickly he heals.   So if you react with great fright then he will heal more poorly than he might have if you had simply reacted in a  more neutral and comforting tone. It is  really very simple.

12/21/12- A beautiful Vision for the Future

another Maine Sunset on Long Pond
I wanted to share a video that I just saw in the  December edition of Spirit of Change magazine, published in   Boston, MA. It is an optimistic  and beautiful vision of all that we have to look forward to in 2013 and afterwards.
I am grateful for the message and all of the messages that bring peace and hope to a world that is feeling terribly stressed and fearful.
Please watch with an open mind and open eyes. We have no idea how things will change but I would certainly rather focus on the  blessings that are being envisioned instead of dire predictions. The video is about 12 minutes long.
A beautiful vision for 12/21/12

Blessings  to everyone and keep peace and self love in your hearts, please.

The miracles that are all around us

Maine Sunset

"Our problem is that we tend to have tremendous faith in the power of our disasters, and far too little faith in the power of miracles".
Marianne WIlliamson-
"The Law of Divine Compensation"

I have been thinking quite a lot about what to say as we approach 12/21/12. I have been hearing about this date for the past 12 years. In  2000, I was introduced to a gifted healer, named Suzy Miller, who opened my eyes to the miracles of healing and the power of the year 2012 . She had assisted in the healing of my sister Robin's hearing.  Robin was scheduled to have ear surgery and she never had to go through with it. From that point on, I was aware of miracles happening all the time.

Roxie, The Rock Star

Roxie, the rock star
Roxie's ability to heal, from the other side, is pretty amazing. I have been sad but just peacefully so. I am  really fine and  I feel like the key to this sense of ease  is a conscious death experience. I was worried about her cancerous bumps  and I could not stand the thought of her dying. I would cry whenever I had a glimpse of it. Yet now, I find myself in a great deal of peace after she has gone. Yes the house and office are very quiet and for now, I  like Pixie's quiet energy.

Communicating with Roxie

As you know Roxie died about two weeks ago.  I have received so many kind wishes and prayers  since then. Thank you so very much. I would like to share a little bit more about her death. During the past few years, we have regularly talked with our dogs either through our own intuition or using an animal communicator Whitney Taylor. Because of the additional information, I am convinced that dogs see colors and they are much  smarter than humans.

Choosing a healer that is right for you.

horse play
How do we heal? I have been thinking about this  for the past few weeks. Since I  am an early baby boomer, I have witnessed incredible shifting in the healing techniques that are available to everyone. In the seventies, I believe that we began a revolution to take back our  physical and mental health. Especially in Northern California, there were so many classes and workshops about alternative or holistic healing. I loved taking these classes and learned so much. Of course, when I came back east to visit family, most people did not know what I was talking about. ie body work was working on a car, tofu and sprouts were an alien food group etc. Now that  there is so much available and such  incredible healing going on. It is hard to know where to go or what to do.
How do you choose someone to work with when you do not know them?

Roxie the therapy dog

Roxie at  Sandy Hook beach
Roxie was a rock star in my world. She died yesterday, November 29th at 1:10PM. She was happy and loving from the day that we brought her home until she died in the vet's office yesterday. We brought her home as a 10 week old  ll bean look alike golden retriever puppy.  She came into our home shortly after 9/11/01 and shortly before our oldest daughter, Meredith left for College. She changed our lives!  She had so much energy that it was hard to get used to her in the beginning.  She loved everything as if it were the first time that she was experiencing life. She especially loved a squeaky toy that she would chew on incessantly while I was on the phone. When I told  her to stop, she would put it down and start chasing her tail. When she was done with that, she would pick up the toy again. That was Roxie.

Uncle Harry, Healing While Dying, Part #3

mountain light
Uncle Harry lived a life that was very stable, responsible and loyal to his family and friends. My brother spoke with him every Sunday for 51 years. My sister and I kept in touch with him regularly.  He always wanted to talk about politics and if we had heard from each other recently. What have you heard from your sister? Is she okay?  As our father died when we were very young, Uncle Harry had promised our Dad that he would take care of us. He kept his promise. He made sure that we went to college, attended our weddings and  heard  the news about his nephews and nieces. He never really understood why people needed to go to  psychotherapy? He would often ask me what was the point of talking about our problems? It was hard to explain.....

Uncle Harry, Part 2 healing while dying

purple turtle
Part 2 begins on November 5th when we received the call that Uncle Harry was being taken to the emergency room for a fall and bleeding. This was the day after we finally had power restored after Hurricane Sandy. We had just finished restocking the refrigerator with food for both ourselves and our two dogs. We were at the emergency room not knowing what would happen in the next couple of weeks. At the age of 94, he had never had any surgeries and he looked younger than his age. However, his body had been failing him for quite some time. He was very keenly aware of what was going on around him but had pretty much lost his ability to communicate verbally. He also had no faith in spirit or in love. He felt that he had been hurt too many times.

Uncle Harry's Death and Healing part 1

gratitude for our lives
My 94 year old Uncle Harry died on November 18th, 2012. He had moved into the Martin and Edith Stein Assisted Living Residence  about 8 months ago. When he moved in, my siblings and I were not at all sure that it would be a good fit. He was a loner, very proud  and had lived in the same house for over 85 years. That is correct and it is longer than many people are actually alive. He simply stayed put. He grew up, served in the army, got married and lived for 65 years with his wife Muriel in the house in Brooklyn. There were also deaths in the house and we thought that he might die there as well. However, he did not. He chose to live 8 more months in NJ.

You Will Never Walk Alone

Fall in Lake Derwentwater, England
I have been very remiss is writing for the past month or so.  During that time, I  travelled over to Northern England to visit my daughter who now lives in Leeds. It is Wuthering heights country in Yorkshire and really very beautiful. We were lucky that the weather was quite nice most of the time and we were able to go walking around without umbrellas. This is a photo of  Lake  Derwentwater in the Lake district near the town of Keswick.

I returned to NJ the day before hurricane Sandy visited NJ and was so glad to be back before the storm hit. Ever since then, it feels as if there has
been one drama after another. We got our power back on Sunday, November 4th, my 94 year old uncle entered the hospital on Monday, President Obama was elected as the 44nd President and today we have a Nor'Easter.

I  woke up on Election day hearing the song You Will Never Walk Alone by Mahalia Jackson  in 1961. Enjoy the walk with Miss Jackson.

Talking to Spirit

When we were walking on the tow path yesterday, my friend Maricie spotted a tiny, tiny turtle probably less than 1 inch long. It looked like a small, dark  stone. I wonder if noticing  the small  gifts from nature is our  reminder that we are all one. In fact seemingly disparate things can all be connected. For instance,  we were walking, the tiny  turtle appears, a beautiful day and we were talking about change and new growth. I also dreamt about sea turtles the night before our walk.

Dreams and multi-dimensionality

turtle dream
Last night I dreamt about a dear friend and we had a lovely time attending a gathering of our friends. I just called us this morning and she reported that she felt the such comfort during her dream last night. She stated that she felt angel wings had enveloped her during the night. Is it a coincidence that I called her today and we were able to make this connection? I don't think so. I feel like the dimensions are melding together and time is shifting. Multi- dimensionality is becoming more real. We can dream something at night and confirm it the next day.

The Dragonfly and wings of light

dragonfly feeding swarm
Last night we invited friends over for dinner. It had been a very warm summer day and there had been  lots of mosquitoes and biting insects during the day.  Just as our guests arrived, I looked through the window and saw swarms of big black bugs swirling around Pixie's head. She did not seem to mind the bugs but just in case, I used the cow bell to call both dogs into the house. They are well trained to come in quickly once the bell is rung. I guess we should call it a dog bell at this point.

turtle face

I received wonderful feed back about my recent blog post  about the turtle. Many folks seem to resonate with the idea of  moderating their energy and moving  ahead more slowly now. So perhaps this is exactly where we need to be just poking out of our shell and really taking time before we have to make the bigger decisions.

Turtle healing energy

turtle light

Roxie,  our 11 year old Golden Retriever, found a rock in our grassy backyard yesterday.  She had it in her mouth but I couldn’t understand why she had picked up a rock!  Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be an Eastern Box turtle. This is the first turtle that we have actually found on our property in over thirty years;  it was very exciting.  This beautiful turtle was about 4-5 inches long and had both beautiful yellow colored patterns and brown geometric “etchings” on its shell.  The Box turtle has the unusual ability to lock up tight when it is in protection mode. I think that is why it looked like a rock to Roxie.

Why we can't sleep well?

dragonflies at night
Because, we are afraid to acknowledge our dark side.  The dark side means the part of us that we refuse to look at or talk about.  It is different for everyone.  For some, it is our anger, our vulnerability, our regrets, or our fears.  It could be anything really.  We just like to pretend that everything  is light and good.  By pretending, we actually miss out on the greatest opportunities for healing.

Trying and expecting a miracle

miracles of nature
I married myself last night. Interesting, I had written a blog post describing my frustration about needing to fit into a a narrow paradigm of acceptable truths. I  had heard one too many scientific explanations of things that could not be explained and I just said what I believed to be true. The tricky thing is that when you say it, you have held it in for so long  that the words come out very strongly.

Living in Both worlds

both worlds
I am so tired of keeping my inner world a secret for fear that someone will misunderstand what I am saying. I feel like I am always hedging behind saying the right words at the right time to the right people. I am grateful that things are opening up so much that we can more easily say the truth. I know that the scientific method and the religious leaders  have  kept us all in the dark for many thousands of years  by having to prove even unprovable things.

Healing ourselves first

clearing energy of the frog

It is coming in loud and clear right now that we need to heal ourselves before we can offer clear healing to others. We are asked to put on our own oxygen mask in an airline emergency before we put it on our children.  This can be generalized to all situations. When we take care of what we need  then it is easier to help others.

Mountain Lion Operating system

elephant  magic

As a result of my lunchtime conversation with a dear friend over delicious Thai stir fry, I realized one important thing about the way that I work.  I have been in the healing field for over 35 years and I have never stopped recreating my self.  I continue to take challenging classes and workshops so that I can challenge how I live my life and how I work with clients.  I feel that I have always done this.

creative no's and being a clear channel

transformation and clarity
Is this an oxymoron? Is it really possible to say no and still  maintain your relationships?   Why do women tend to  say yes instead of no so often . Why do healers  have so much  difficulty with this issue.
Some of the reasons are:
....we don't want people to dislike us...

The ninth wonder of the world

another wonder
My Uncle Harry, at 94, joined my meditation class at the Martin and Edith Stein Assisted Living facility . I have blogged before about this special class that I am teaching on Wednesdays to the residents. I have been doing this for the past  three months and despite my repeated invitations, Uncle Harry has refused to attend.
Today was different........

First chakra healing and tattoos

Sedona's   majestry
Tattoos are a very big thing these days. It no longer matters   what cohort you are form, everyone is getting tattoos. I have thought about it but I am not a big fan of additional pain. I already have enough pain due  to arthritis and back discomfort. However, temporary tattoos, I am willing to  try. I found these at temporary chakra tattoos. Vicki Howie created them with her son and they are quite beautiful. She is also quite helpful if you have any questions about how to use them.

more on chakras and healing

healing  back pain
It was nice to have some feedback from the last blog about Chakras. I feel that the concept is so misunderstood here in the states. If we don't take yoga classes, then we can't work with the chakras. Not true at all. They are  simply another way of working with our energy system . I did the  chakra test and I was definitely lower in the lowest chakras.

back pain and chakras

rainbow horse
In the past couple of days, I have been dealing with back pain that has kept me moving at a much slower pace. I cannot sit for very long without having significant pain when I stand up. I am aware that low back pain often has to do with lack of grounding and trust in one's own ability to take care of one's own physical needs.

The Groundhog and Ho'opopono Healing

groundhog talks
I had a dream last night that ground hogs know not what they do. They just do it. I don't know whether a ground hog actually said it or I just heard it about them..... Either way, it certainly reminds me to stop  taking  things so  personally.   It is an expression that we hear all of the time and we still take the hurtful actions or words of others  to heart.

food as a healing journey

joy of eating well
I have been on a life long journey  trying to understand the healing power of the food that we eat. . I have  switched my diet around every couple of years. In my twenties, as a self avowed hippie, I first experimented with  growing , cooking  and eating whole foods. I lived in a commune and we took turns preparing meals that were healthy and often delicious. I went on juice detoxes and imbibed many liver flushes( a combination of olive oil, garlic and lemon juice).  As the years passed, I experimented with being  eating vegetarian,  and vegan. In the past couple of years,I have followed a gluten free diet. They all have their merits and  the challenge  of coexisting in this world of confusing messages about a healthy diet.

The shift and clinical hypnosis training

horse totem
I was in NYC  this past weekend for the fourth and final weekend of hypnosis training.  It has been an awesome experience!  The training has helped me open up to some totally new and different ways of healing.  After 30 years of healing and psychotherapy work, I am really ready to re-imagine what I do and create a new paradigm for myself.  When I first did healing work, I was a polarity therapy and massage practitioner in Berkley, CA.  It was a challenging time.  Those of us who were practicing alternative health techniques were against everything in those days and we felt that we could do everything.  I learned about freedom and being out of  the box during the 70's.

FAQ's about Past life regression and healing

cat's eyes
A while ago, I wrote a popular blog entry called past life as a fairy. I am writing this blog to explain some of the reasons why past life regression is a helpful healing tool.

Why do a past life regression?
to solve a present life conundrum or puzzling situation. If you are very unhappy in a relationship and cannot leave, it is possible that it is an unresolved  past life attachment . Or  In one session a client  was a  very fearful passenger when his wife was driving.( BTW, she was a very good driver).  By going back into past life, he understood that fear  may have begun  as a result of a terrible accident  and was not from this lifetime at all. He then had an ah ha moment and the fear and anger began to weaken.

The Beach House

Barrier Islands, South Carolina

loggerhead turtles
I recently visited Harbor Island in  South Carolina. It is one of the barrier islands off Charleston. We went as a family to celebrate our 30th wedding  anniversary. It was a spectacular island to visit. I don't think that I have ever been anywhere that had as much visible wild and marine life.  There were  350  pound Loggerhead turtles,

Mindful Meditation group

Sedona sunset
Today  was the second session of the meditation class that I am giving at the assisted living facility where my Uncle Harry is living.  I have offered to do this group as a way of giving back to the organization that has greatly improved my Uncle's  quality of  life.  I am very grateful to this organization.  When I teach, , I am usually  learning  a great deal  as well .  Yes, we are reviewing mindfulness practices including deep breathing, visualizations, self hypnosis and meditation.

My past life as a Hippie

the rock face at sunset
Last fall, I went to Sedona, Arizona  with my wonderful friend and colleague, Hathi.  She generously invited me to share her time share .  I vaguely remember visiting Sedona during my incarnation as a hippie in the 70"s. As a hippie, I actually traveled thousands of miles across the United States, Canada, Mexico , Central America and Europe. It was a wonderful and safer  time to explore the world  .  During that time, I also visited Sedona  and it was" simply"  a beautiful sacred area.  I did not know about vortices, crystal energies, and healing powers.

Driver's seat

rock face
My dreams have been very striking lately. I dream in words and images. Sometimes, it is just words that keep repeating over and over in my mind. These words were" be who you want to be". "Be who you want to be".

Maslows hierarchy of needs and the holocaust

flower opening
I have tried writing this blog for several days in a row. I keep starting it and then I am unable to find the words to decribe my thoughts and feelings. Words are so limiting , photographs are better and even then it is hard to describe certain things. I will try it again today. . Abraham Maslow, psychologist,   created a hierarchy of needs back in the fifties. The first three levels of need  are in order:   food and shelter, safety and security and group approval. The next levels include self actualization and transcendence. I have always found this hierarchy helpful and yet I am finding yet another way to look at it.

Chimpanzees

 "imagined jungle flower"
I have another wonderful movie to recommend.  "Chimpanzees" and it  came out in the  theatres last weekend .  It is a mostly unscripted story  of two groups of Chimpanzees living on the Ivory coast  of Western Africa. Everything about the movie is  fantastic. The unexpected story line, the beautiful photography,  Oscar the amazingly resourceful young chimp and  the  deadly beauty of the Ivory Coast.

Thrive

Thrive , an interesting new movie
fairy tree
I just recently watched the movie "Thrive". I thought that it was a fascinating journey into the psyche of our conspiracy consciousness. IF it is true and it may very well be, it is a striking summary of many pieces of information that have been floating around in our world. Please watch the two hour movie. It is free for the next couple of days on the website.
"THRIVE is an unconventional documentary that lifts the veil on what's REALLY going on in our world by following the money upstream -- uncovering the global consolidation of power in nearly every aspect of our lives. Weaving together breakthroughs in science, consciousness and activism, THRIVE offers real solutions, empowering us with unprecedented and bold strategies for reclaiming our lives and our future". This information was taken from the website www.thrivemovement.com.

Uncle Harry and assisted living

turtle love
I have been very fortunate. My father died when I was a teenager and my mother is  still healthy and active at 86.  I was not really involved in the deaths of my grandparents since I  was young and traveling as a hippie. My father's brother, my Uncle Harry is 93 and he had been living at home until recently.  He could no longer manage in February and he moved to Jersey to set up residence in an assisted living facility.

a two dog walk

Two dogs and three friends have begun taking  early morning walks. Pixie and I joined this   group of women about a month ago. We meet on week days and generally walk about 3 miles. It is really a pleasure to walk with  friends. This morning we met and I was the last to get to the park. Natalie,  Heidi and her dog Tipper were already there and waiting for us. As soon as Pixie exited the car, Tipper began making these sounds of utter joy and welcome. You could hear the excitement in her barking

turning "six five"

turtle love
I will be celebrating my six five birthday at the end of this week.  I have decided that I  will call it the  "six five" birthday instead of the sixty fifth birthday. It may sound like semantics to many of  you but there is a great deal of  energy that goes into the phrase "sixty fifth"  birthday. There are  all kinds of questions   that relate to medicare, social security, retirement etc that begin to be talked about. There is also the consensual awareness that you may  begin to have more health problems.
Actually, I feel stronger and healthier than I have felt for a very long time. Personally, I would like to put that kind of positive and hopeful energy out into the ethers .  I feel like I still have a great deal of important healing work to do and certainly want to enjoy my family and friends for many more years.  So I will celebrate my six five birthday with great joy and celebration. Warms wishes and love  to all of  you,  the dear  readers that follow my blog.

Je vous reviens

dragonfly angels
I dream in French. Often, I hear a word or a phrase and then it is  repeated over and over through out the night. I have been doing this for years. As soon as I awaken, I usually write the phrase in an email to my dear friend Mary and she interprets the french for me. For you see, that although I dream in french, I do not speak the language. In fact, I took High School French and did rather  poorly.
The first word that I  remember hearing  was Abattoir which I believe means a slaughter house. I do not remember the context for that particular word dream but often they have very specific meanings for me.  "Je vous reviens"  came after a wonderful day where I felt profoundly in touch with my spiritual nature.  To me, the words mean I have returned to my connection to all that is, the universe, God or whatever term is useful to describe our greater consciousness.  I truly believe that dreams are the gateway to happiness and self understanding. I love the variety of dreams that I have, especially the word dreams.
Do you have word dreams? Write and let me know as  I would love to hear about them.

feeling the burn- similarities between fitness training and psychotherapy and healing

"frog delight"
I recently began working out with a trainer at the New York Sports Club.   I have tried several  expensive   gym memberships  during  the past 20 years. I have paid  my money and I   have gone for several work outs. Usually  at some point,  I feel very uncomfortable pain in   my lower  back or my neck .   I stop going  and this cycle may repeat itself 3-4 times and then  I stop the membership completely .

The Faery Oracle

faery tree
I love working with different oracle cards.I use them as a wonderful way to bring a spiritual presence into my everyday life. There are so many different forms of oracle or divination cards. The most popular are the Tarot cards. However, there are also cards that contain  fairies, angels, animals, sacred geometry, Native American  tradtions, etc.

The Artist,the movie

illusion
My husband and I went to see the movie titled "The Artist"  last night. It was an interesting and well done movie. As you may know, it is a silent movie and   I didn't  really get the meaning  of the movie until this morning.

my favorite movies from 2011

horse dreams
Growing up in Brooklyn, my friends and I had a favorite saturday afternoon  schedule. We would walk to the movie theatre on Avenue J. We would pay 50 cents and be treated to a double feature. I loved the action movies about Sinbad the Sailor. The titles were  The 7th Voyage , Golden Voyage ,  and  Eye of the Tiger. I loved being swept up by the adventures and technology of  these moviesProbably, the forerunners of Star wars and Space oddyssey, 2001.  Of course, my favorite  treat was a frozen milky way bar on a stick. No wonder, I had so many cavities as a kid.  Then we would go to the local pizza shop and pay 15 cents for a piece of pizza. We would walk home feeling very full and still replaying the afternoons adventures.

back pain and taking it easy

turtle smelling flowers
My back has been very painful for the last couple of days. I tried taking a yoga class, healing meditations, additional supplements and finally a massage today. I kept waking up expectantly that the back pain would have disappeared. It has not happened. What  I finally decided to do upon the advice of the massage therapist was to take it easy. Why is it so hard to take it easy?
I try to do so many things to ease the pain but the simplest of all.
I know what the problem is. Taking it easy does not come naturally.
