Better Sleeping for All of Us, From Babies to Adults

Dream Fish
First of all, I think that sleeping is tricky. There are so many studies about the epidemic of poor sleeping. As adults, we are supposed to sleep between 7-9 hours a night and yet most of us do not get 6 hours of sleep.  There are a number of causes that  include but are not limited to: too much worry, technology, light stimulation, caffeine and sugar. and not enough of the outdoors.  Truly, how can we expect our babies and children to sleep better than we do.
As adults, we are proud that we sleep so little since it means that we are so much more productive. However, it really works the opposite way. When we don't sleep enough, we can't keep anything straight including our  temper and our priorities. So if you are angry more than you would like, please be mindful of your sleeping.

What do we do about it.  My primary suggestion is to write down what you are worried about during the night. In the morning, look at your worries, decide on an action step and then take action. Once you have done that I would like you to envision a balloon carrying your worries up and away. Take a deep breath and go on with your day. Are you ready to let go of your worries for better sleep?
